Advanced Education Programs - FACILITIES

State-of-the-art equipment, a faculty with expertise in all of the dental disciplines as well as the basic sciences, and an outpatient clinic which records more than 75,000 patient visits a year contribute to the superior advanced dental education programs at the UTHSCSA Dental School.

Almost 500,000 square feet in the Dental School building provides space for clinical cubicles, specialty suites, research laboratories, departmental offices, conference areas, and classrooms. In addition, the facilities of the Health Science Center, including its outstanding library, lecture halls, and computer support and learning resources services are at the disposal of students and faculty. Interaction with on-going basic science research in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, access to multidisciplinary laboratories, and rotations and clinical experiences in patient care facilities affiliated with the Health Science Center add depth to the curriculum of each program.

Faculty of the Dental School, which was founded in 1970, are drawn from across the nation and around the world. Many are board certified and recognized internationally as authorities in their field. They are the authors and editors of textbooks, leaders of national and international dental organizations, and researchers who continuously contribute to the literature and the body of knowledge in current dental sciences.

The Dental School's programs have been awarded full accreditation by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association.
