January 28, 2021
Eric Day, MBA, ATC, LAT, senior director of practice operations in the Office of Patient Care, has successfully graduated from the UT Health San Antonio’s Leadership Excellence for Administrative Professionals (LEAP) program.
LEAP is an eleven-month professional development program for managers with goals to expand their leadership knowledge and practical application skills. Participants of the program presented summaries of their capstone projects on December 16, 2020 to a virtual audience.
Opening remarks from Andrea Marks, MBA, CPA, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and Amy Tawney, MBA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, praised the efforts of the 2019-2020 LEAP class. As leaders in their departments, the participants continued to advance the intuition’s strategic priorities during a pandemic while also committing to their professional growth.
Eric's work group presented their capstone project titled, “EnVISIONing Participant Recruitment for Clinical Trials, Bridging the vision with the mission”. Their research focused on identifying opportunities for the institution to improve on operational inefficiencies in clinical research, such as making clinical research resources more accessible and integrating processes.
Eric has been with the institution since early 2019 and feels LEAP has been incredibly beneficial to him.
“I found the LEAP experience to be invaluable. The opportunity to meet, interact, and problem solve with such a diverse cross section of UTHSA leaders has left me with new friends that I will not hesitate to reach out to as we work to improve our processes in the School of Dentistry. I found the content organized by Priya to be very relevant and the participation of executive leadership, as both mentors and presenters, was a testament to the dedication behind this program. I highly recommend LEAP to any School of Dentistry employee who may be considering it.”
Priya Nair-Flores, MHA, ACC, is an organization development consultant senior in the Office of Human Resources. She worked closely with each LEAP group and facilitated program coursework.
Eric’s project team was composed of fellow LEAP graduates Bradley Goettl, DNP, assistant professor/clinical in the Department of Emergency Medicine, Linda López-George, MA, director of marketing in Marketing, Communications, and Media, Valerie Hutchinson, MBA, assistant director in the Office of Sponsored Programs, and Sabrina York, MBA, senior director of development in the Office of Institutional Advancement.
