2021 Senior Awards

The School of Dentistry hosted the 2021 Senior Hooding and Awards Convocation Ceremony on May 20. The hybrid ceremony was held in the Holly Auditorium for a limited number of faculty members and was broadcast live to the campus community.
Seventy-one awards were presented to the senior dental students, recognizing those who demonstrated remarkable achievements throughout their four years in the School of Dentistry.
Thirty-nine students were recognized for Distinction in Dental Education, 11 seniors were honored with Distinction in Research, and eight students were recognized as Veterans of The United States Armed Forces or as active-duty military personnel.
The distinction of High Honors and Higher Honors were presented to graduates whose upper-division grade point averages was within 3.50 through 3.69, and 3.70 through 3.89, respectively. Thirty-five graduates achieved these separate distinctions.
Adriana Segura, DDS, MS, professor and associate dean for academics, faculty and student affairs, presented Dakota Miller, DDS, and Easton Trejo, DDS, with the Valedictorian Award. The two graduates tied for the title by receiving Highest Honors and earning a grade point average of 3.90 or higher.
One senior from each of the eight group practices were presented with The Senior Clinic Award for Excellence in Clinical Dentistry for their outstanding clinical skills, patient management and leadership.
