Osetek Educator Award goes to Diogenes

The American Association of Endodontists (AAE) presented Anibal R. Diogenes, DDS, MS, PhD, with the prestigious Edward M. Osetek Educator Award during its 2021 virtual annual meeting on April 24th.

The Osetek Educator Award recognizes Dr. Diogenes as an outstanding educator who has earned the esteem of his students and faculty associates, shaped endodontics by the quality and subsequent impact of his former and current students on the specialty, and as an educator who has been in high demand to present at endodontic seminars, lectures, and workshops at other educational institutions.

“Coming to UT Health San Antonio was the best decision of my career,” Dr. Diogenes shared. “I consider myself ‘homegrown’ since it was here that I received most of my professional training and continue to do so every day.”

Dr. Diogenes, an associate professor and vice-chair in the Department of Endodontics, received his DDS from the Federal University of Pernambuco in Brazil, his MS in molecular biology from the University of Nebraska, and his PhD in pharmacology and certificate in endodontics from the UT Health San Antonio.

Since 2009, Dr. Diogenes has served both graduate and undergraduate students in the School of Dentistry and the Long School of Medicine as a dedicated advisor and mentor.
